Hollywood stunt expert joins the film

One of the major international names associated with ‘Samuk’ is Luke Tumber. The former Royal Marines Commando is a respected stunt coordinator in Hollywood and has worked on several massive films including ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ (2025), ‘Venom’ (2018), ‘No Time To Die’ (2021), and ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ (2019).

Tumber says he was excited by the vision behind the film and the opportunity to combine international stunt work with Indian storytelling. He shared that team wants to create authentic action scenes and live-action sequences that can connect with audiences.

He also praised Akshay Kumar and called him the “Action Hero of India.” Considering Akshay’s long history with martial arts and stunt-based cinema, the collaboration seems like a natural fit for a film that promises large-scale action.

Real monster instead of pure CGI

What makes ‘Samuk’ stand apart from many recent sci-fi projects is its focus on practical creature effects instead of depending only on CGI or AI-generated visuals.

Alien creature in the film is being designed by Alec Gillis, legendary Hollywood creature-effects artist. He has worked on the ‘Alien’ and ‘Predator’ franchises. Gillis is also known for projects such as ‘Alien: Romulus’ (2024), ‘Smile 2’ (2024), ‘Tremors’ (1990). He has even received Academy Award recognition for his work.

Gillis revealed that the monster in ‘Samuk’ has been specially designed for the film in collaboration with director Kanishk Varma. He described the creature as a “unique alien horror” and said he feels happy that filmmakers still value handcrafted monster creations in an era dominated by AI and computer graphics.

This means audiences may get to see a more physical and realistic creature on screen.

Alec Gillis compares Akshay to Jason Statham and Tom Cruise

Gillis also had glowing words for Akshay Kumar. While talking about the actor, he compared Akshay’s screen presence to two of Hollywood’s biggest action stars.

According to Gillis, Akshay has “the physicality of Jason Statham and the likeability of Tom Cruise.” He added that his goal is to create alien villain powerful enough to match Akshay’s energy and charisma.

He even hinted that defeating the monster in ‘Samuk’ will not be easy, “even for him.”
